Ένας παραγωγός κινηματογραφικών ταινιών του Χόλιγουντ ξεγελά ένα μεγάλο στούντιο για να χρηματοδοτήσει 100 εκ. δολάρια σε μια ταινία δράσης για έναν βρετανό πρωθυπουργό του 19ου αιώνα, τον Benjamin Disraeli. 
Όταν ο πρωταγωνιστής πέφτει θύμα απαγωγής, ο παραγωγός και ένα στέλεχος του στούντιο, αποφασίζουν να γυρίσουν άλλη ταινία, χωρίς να ενημερώσουν την εταιρεία παραγωγής.
